The Inspiration Files- Headboards

I have been accumulating quite the collection on headboard images over the past few months as I have been looking for inspirations for our bedroom. We will be moving in April and we aren't sure exactly where (same town)but just want a bigger place and thus will have the room for a proper master suite. With that said here is just a fraction of the images that I fancied.

Upholstered:

Unlikely to use but quirky:

Peacock Headboard:

..love this for a little girls room though.

Painted antique wooden: Sigh...

...and a few others..
 You get the point.

Those are just a few I weeded out and now I can proceed to erase them from my folder. Sneaky huh?

The Inspiration Files - Kitchen love

I guess I'm just a sucker for white kitchens, white Carerra mable, subway tiles, and a splash of rustic farmhouse glam.
Take a look at these beautiful spaces and awe in their beauty...

Doesn't that just make you want to take a sledgehammer to your current disaster head to The Home Depot?

Just a little hold-ya-over-till-I-get-back-from-my-honeymoon post!

See you soon!

Wedding Inspo..

So, after having to endure countless question from my beloved mother as to what my vision is for the wedding reception in May, I decided to make a post about it and have her use it for reference.

Hi Mom!

What I like most about these images is the airy and muted color scheme. I would absolutely love to recreate the magic around these enchanting photos in our upcoming fiesta and look forward to the many DIY's ahead...

Now, by no means ( ahem, MOM ) does this mean I want everything in the pictures below. They are just pictures for inspiration and ideas.  Haha.

Enjoy!

The Liebster Award!

So apparently I'm not just talking to myself!
This is the sweetest thing ever!
Thank you to Chantal over at BeauLifestyle for nominating me, it was the highlight of my day. I though I was excited when I had my first comment, and BOOM-
she hit me with this thoughtful award.

The rules are as follows:
1. Post 11 facts about yourself.
2. Answer the 11 questions your nominator asks and then create 11 questions for the bloggers you nominate.
3. Choose 11 people with under 200 followers to nominate and link to them.
4. Go to their pages and let them know. (no tag backs)

The 11 things about me:

1. My parents are Chilean; my mother being half German, also.

2. Spanish was my first language and I took German in Uni. (That was a two in one, folks) ;)

3. I loathe scary movies, but more so movies in which animals appear to be hurt or die. Rip my heart out, why don't you!?

4. I have an unhealthy obsession with furniture...treasure hunting in general, and with that comes craigslist stalking.

5. My all time favorite ice cream in Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia. Pretty much the only flavor I eat... because it's THAT good.

6. I use to have a Mohawk... that was PINK!

7. I'm an Accountant in my day job.

8. I'm getting married in 2 1/3 weeks and I am so excited to have such a HOT HUSBAND!

9. My favorite movie is Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightly. I've watched it over a thousand times and I wish I were kidding.

10. A big fat hen!

11. Is my favorite number. Second to that is 7 and then 3... OCD much?

So, those were 11 facts about me, now I have to answer 11 questions from Chantal:

1. What is your preferred transportation? I used to live in Uptown Charlotte (NC) where I use to ride my vintage bike to work everyday. That is still my all-time-favorite, but since I live in Florida I prefer the temperature much better inside my air conditioned car. At least in the summer time, we'll see when "winter" comes. ;)

2. What do you do for exercise? Currently on day 7 of P90X and I couldn't move yesterday. Ouch.

3. What is your most favorite shop in the world?-  In the world??! Gee, that's a loaded question? I guess I would have to go with Barney's NY. They have every luxury there.

4. Who is your biggest inspiration? My mother. Hands down the toughest little spitfire woman you'll ever meet.

5. What is your most favorite piece of furniture in your house? I haven't mentioned it yet, but I recently acquired a campaign chest on CL which I need to fix up, but it's slowly creeping to the top of my faves. Just Classic.

6. What was given to you as a gift that you adore? And what is on top of your wish list? My engagement ring! It was Patrick's little French grandmother's ring and it's so beautiful. Wish list? I'll keep it short. I just want a Canon EOS Rebel T3i and a iMac desktop... and maybe a white parsons desk from West Elm ... and... and... ...

7. Which computer do you own? I own a MacBook, an old little 13" white one that's still running tough but I'm looking to upgrade to a iMac.

8. Favorite song? Right now? I guess it would have to be anything off of Marina and the Diamonds new Electric Heart album... probably Primadona. I fancy her very much.

9. Ballerinas or heels? - Heels.

10. Best party ever? Hasn't happened yet! Our wedding reception is on May, 23 2013!

11. Why did you start to blog?
I just started it as an outlet to write down thoughts, projects, ideas and fashion inspirations... basically just to have fun! :)

My 11 nominations are:

I highly recommend you pop over to their pages to say hello! :)

And lastly my questions:

1.  What does your morning routine look like? i.e. Do you make your bed and/or drink coffee??
2.  Do you cook or eat out most of the time?
3.  What's your favorite food?
4.  Who's your celebrity crush?
5.  What's your favorite room in your house and why?
6.  What have you been wanting to change up in your house lately?
7.  Where do you score most of your decor finds?
8.  How much time do you spend on Pinterest- if any at all?
9.  Have you met any bloggers in real life?  If so, who?
10.  What's your signature drink?
11.  What blog post are you most proud of?

Well that is all ladies!
A BIG thank you to Chantal at BeauLifestyle ...and also thank you to my fellow bloggers for participating!

Sneak Peek: Our Wedding Venue

I haven't shared many details about our upcoming nuptials yet, but I'll let you in on the fact that we are having a small (very small) intimate wedding with just our parents, our good friend who is our minister and another good friend who will be taking pictures. Our wedding date is on the 3rd of November of this year. Yes, that is less that a 3 weeks away!!

However, because I have such a HUGE Hispanic family, we are having an equally huge Hispanic sized 2nd wedding and reception on May 23rd of 2013 to allow the peeps on the other side of the equator ( and all over the states) time to get there. Some of you might wonder why we don't just wait until May and just do one wedding, and our answer to that is that we didn't want a big wedding in the first place. We want to experience just celebrating with a very small group of just our parents and not get caught up in the hoopla. The second wedding is more of a party for our families to be able to celebrate with us and just have a great time.

This past weekend we went over to the Sugar Mills Botanical Gardens where we plan on getting married in 3 weeks and I took a few snap shots to give you all a sneak peek. ;)

This is where we will exchange our vows. Isn't this Confederate Oak tree beautiful?

.........

The second wedding and reception is going to be in Charlotte, NC at my parents home. It should make for some great memories and fantastic shenanigans. Can't wait to bring you along for that! I plan on sending the Save the Dates out before the 1st wedding so that people are aware that we didn't forget about them and of course, in true DISCOairglow fashion there will be a DIY.
Stay tuned for that this week!
