Wedding Inspo..

So, after having to endure countless question from my beloved mother as to what my vision is for the wedding reception in May, I decided to make a post about it and have her use it for reference.

Hi Mom!

What I like most about these images is the airy and muted color scheme. I would absolutely love to recreate the magic around these enchanting photos in our upcoming fiesta and look forward to the many DIY's ahead...

Now, by no means ( ahem, MOM ) does this mean I want everything in the pictures below. They are just pictures for inspiration and ideas.  Haha.

Enjoy!

Sneak Peek: Our Wedding Venue

I haven't shared many details about our upcoming nuptials yet, but I'll let you in on the fact that we are having a small (very small) intimate wedding with just our parents, our good friend who is our minister and another good friend who will be taking pictures. Our wedding date is on the 3rd of November of this year. Yes, that is less that a 3 weeks away!!

However, because I have such a HUGE Hispanic family, we are having an equally huge Hispanic sized 2nd wedding and reception on May 23rd of 2013 to allow the peeps on the other side of the equator ( and all over the states) time to get there. Some of you might wonder why we don't just wait until May and just do one wedding, and our answer to that is that we didn't want a big wedding in the first place. We want to experience just celebrating with a very small group of just our parents and not get caught up in the hoopla. The second wedding is more of a party for our families to be able to celebrate with us and just have a great time.

This past weekend we went over to the Sugar Mills Botanical Gardens where we plan on getting married in 3 weeks and I took a few snap shots to give you all a sneak peek. ;)

This is where we will exchange our vows. Isn't this Confederate Oak tree beautiful?

.........

The second wedding and reception is going to be in Charlotte, NC at my parents home. It should make for some great memories and fantastic shenanigans. Can't wait to bring you along for that! I plan on sending the Save the Dates out before the 1st wedding so that people are aware that we didn't forget about them and of course, in true DISCOairglow fashion there will be a DIY.
Stay tuned for that this week!

Something Borrowed..

I'll start by saying that I have the sweetest mother-in-law to be in the whole wide world. For that I am extremely fortunate. I know some people aren't so fortunate in that department but luckily for me, she is sweet as pie and oh so gracious with us.

I simply love getting things in the post, but today's post was even more special because it was from her.
She sent over this box with a little note that said:

While in Charlotte this past weekend we were chatting about my wedding dress and came to the realization that I had Something Old- My beautiful ring, which was Patrick's French grandmother's, Something New- My new wedding dress (Squeal! Thanks mummy!) and Something Blue- which is a single blue Iris that I plan to put in my bouquet to remember my beautiful German/Spanish grandmother Iris (aka Lela.) I hadn't picked out a veil or head piece yet when she mentioned that she had a head piece that she wore on her wedding day in safe keeping. I instantly agreed and thought it was a perfect choice for Something Borrowed. I'll reveal it all after the wedding! ;)

Happy Scatterday!

You know, it's amazing what hanging out with girlfriends will do.
Last night I hung out with one of my sweetest and most fucking hilarious friend, Chase. We had such a blast, (well, at least I did!) going to the movies and catching up on life. We saw the movie The Words, which I knew for a fact the Boy wouldn't appreciate.. and I still think he would have been poking his eyeballs out, and then had some drinks at the house and chatted it up like it's 1999. Needless to say, I woke up in desperate need of caffeine.

Hope you all have a productive weekend! Or not, your choice.

Now to get my rear in gear!

P.s: Movie was good, kinda of like Inception in a way but not. Great review, right?
 Uh-huh..

Summer Weddings: Ensemble Une

Wedding season is fast approaching and we need to be prepared. I know how it is to suddenly realize that you have a wedding to attend this weekend and you haven't prepared yourself with what you're wearing.

Here is a chic early summer/ beach wedding option that would be perfect for that breezy ceremony to cool reception. You'll look effortlessly put together with a little Gucci and Pucci as you toast with champagne, and nonchalant when the bouquet falls at your feet and you pretend not to see it. ;)

I'll leave you with some words of wisdom. It's inevitable at weddings to hear some quacky lady feeling pity for the poor single girl and say "always the bridesmaid never the bride," which is when I kindly remind them it's better than "never the bridesmaid, always the bride."

It shuts them up every time.

But if you're neither, congratulations! Just enjoy a fabulous party.
